About
Welcome to PlayhouseOT
Play therapy is an approach that places the child's well-being and development at the forefront. By providing a supportive environment, it allows children to communicate what is happening for them in a manner that feels natural and comfortable - through play. In this unique therapeutic setting, children are granted the freedom and space to express their thoughts, feelings, and concerns, fostering a deeper understanding of their inner world. Play Therapy aids in building the child's capacity to regulate their emotions, enhancing their ability to effectively communicate their emotions. It serves as a powerful tool for mastery in new skills, all while adhering to an age-appropriate style of counselling that ensures the child's needs are met with sensitivity and empathy.

Play Therapists use the therapeutic powers of play as the vehicle for change. We use different theoretical models to help children with psychosocial difficulties or trauma and build capacity to prevent future difficulties. The ultimate goal is to support the child to achieve optimal growth and development.

Elizabeth is the founder of PlayhouseOT. She is an experienced therapist, working across the private, non for profit, and community sectors. Elizabeth has a passion for working with children and their families to support their emotional well-being.
